Yuen: Hi, this is Yuen Young, CEO of Upside Avenue, a wholly owned subsidiary of Casoro Group, and I’d like to welcome you to our Educational Video Series: REIT Investing 101. Today, will be discussing: Why REITs? So, what is a REIT? What does that stand for? Well, REIT stands for Real Estate Investment Trust. So, what’s–what’s so important? What’s so valuable about investing in a REIT? In a REIT, you get a couple of key things.
Number one is that you get professional management, meaning that when you have a real estate investment trust, the people who are actually managing the investments, picking the investments, selling the investments: are all professionals and, so, therefore, you don’t have to worry about the headache of actually having to know how to do all those components. The other thing you get from a REIT is really diversification, meaning not all your eggs are in one basket, so inside of a REIT, when you invest in it, you’re actually holding multiple investments inside of that REIT which will spread the risk out so that you’re still in real estate, but not just in one particular project. Therefore, the risk is spread among all of those projects. A REIT also gives you access. When you think about some of the best real estate that’s available out there, the uber wealthy tend to be the ones who have access to that.
But when you invest in a REIT, you’re pulling your resources with other like–minded individuals who are wanting access to real estate and that way you can actually be the investor or the owner of some of the best real estate out there.
